Nominations are open for the 2014 edition of TheStadiumBusiness Awards.

Who deserves recognition for their achievement, success or leadership in the pursuit of sustainable venue and event management? Nominate here.

In last year’s edition of TheStadiumBusiness Awards, Everton FC (Goodison Park) won the ‘Sustainability Award’ for their ‘Small Fixes Which Make a Big Difference’ entry.

Everton saw off competition from Wolfsburg, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Manchester United’s Old Trafford, the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and Marlins Park in Miami to win the award. Wembley Stadium were the 2012 winners.

The judging panel’s published comments revealed: “Evertonʼs submission impressed on so many levels – technical detail, costings, lifetime carbon reduction, budget ROIs, but also in the context that its sustainability goals were achieved in one of the oldest operating stadiums in the world.”

On-going commitment

Speaking to Richard Cairns, Facilities Manager, earlier this week he told TheStadiumBusiness Awards team that ‘This award means a lot to the club and the Facilities department”

‘Our small project delivered on all levels, minimal outlay, quick capital returns, on-going savings with measurable goals both in energy savings and carbon emissions, and with the clubs commitment to use LED lighting in all future refurbishments and renovations, it is above all sustainable and on-going into the future.’
